Zeitfarer — time shifts, you don't have to.

Circadian Planning for Airline Pilots and Flight Crews

Zeitfarer is a circadian planning tool engineered for airline pilots and flight crews, grounded in published circadian and melatonin research rather than rules of thumb. It models precisely how your body clock drifts and re-entrains across time zones — weighing the rest break you actually draw in the bunk or seat, not just the itinerary on paper — into one continuous plan for sleep, naps, light exposure, meals, melatonin timing, and exercise that travels with you from the moment you head out the door, through every leg and layover, until you touch back down at home on your own clock.

Why the name Zeitfarer?

The name fuses two words. A zeitgeber — German for "time-giver" — is chronobiology's term for a cue like light, a meal, or exercise that resets your clock; those cues are exactly what this app schedules. A wayfarer is a traveler who journeys far under their own power. Join them and you get Zeitfarer: a traveler who works with their time-givers instead of against them.

Jet lag isn’t just discomfort. For crew, it’s an alertness problem.

A transpacific rotation can drift your body clock by hours a day. Left alone, that shows up as fatigue on the flight deck, not just a rough night in a hotel. Zeitfarer is built on published circadian and melatonin research — not a generic “beat jet lag” listicle — to give you a plan that’s actually trying to solve the operational problem.

How it works

1

Add your trip.

Enter your flights and layovers — Zeitfarer already knows your home airport, crew base, and typical sleep pattern from your profile.

2

Get a day-by-day plan.

A full schedule of sleep windows, naps, light exposure, meals, melatonin timing, and exercise, built around your actual itinerary — commute, deadhead, and commuter hotel legs included.

3

Follow it through report and layovers.

The Now tab always shows exactly where you are in the plan — what’s happening now, what’s next, and when your next report time is — so you’re not re-deriving the schedule preflight or mid-layover.

Built for how crew actually operate

NOW

Your current phase at a glance: what to do now, what’s up next, and a live countdown to your next report time.

Trip tab showing flight and layover schedule

TRIP

The full rotation as a stack of collapsible cards, one per flight and layover, in local and departure time. Works well in dark mode, too!

FLIGHTS

Add, edit, and reorder the legs of your trip,
including commutes and deadheads.

Flights tab showing where all the flights are built
Settings tab showing all personal and custom information just for you

SETTINGS

Set your home airport, crew base, sleep pattern, and chronotype once — Zeitfarer uses them to personalize every trip plan.

Built for the flight deck, not the boarding gate.

Commuter hotels, deadhead positioning, and per-leg overrides are modeled natively, and every recommendation is grounded in the current published circadian and melatonin science — a professional tool for professional aviators, not a repackaged travel app with pilot terms bolted on.

Your data stays yours

Zeitfarer collects nothing. No account, no login, no network connection — the app works entirely offline, and everything you enter stays on your device. Read the full Privacy Policy.

A note on scope

Zeitfarer is a planning aid grounded in circadian science, not medical advice. Treat its plan as a well-reasoned starting point and adjust to how your own body responds.
